Voice of the Kingfisher speaks out …from a different perspective

It is that time of year again for the celebration of the American Thanksgiving, a day set aside to give thanks to God in gratitude for the bounty He has lavished upon the American people. And what a blessing He has lavished upon these two nations!
The early Spanish explorer and governor of Puerto Rico arrived on the shores of Florida in 1513 in search of the Fountain of Youth, or the fountain that would give eternal life, as legend has it. He was not the first to look for such a fountain of life. As far back as the time of Alexander the Great, there was talk of a fountain of life, which produced restorative waters. Before Ponce de Leon arrived in America, the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean spoke of the restorative powers of the water in the mythical land of Bimini, generally described as being in the area of the Bahamas. It was also a land that was supposed to teem with gold and all sorts of riches.
According to A Book About American History by George Stimpson, Ponce de Leon reached his destination on April 2, during the Easter season called ‘the Pascua Florida’, which means ‘the flowery Passover’; and so it was named Florida because it was discovered at the time of the flowery festival. Interestingly, though no discovery was made of a fountain of life in that state, the Passover Lamb gave life to the world at that very same time of year, which we call Easter, when He became the sacrifice on the cross for human sin.
Perhaps Ponce de Leon was looking for a fountain of youth because the priesthood of the Roman Catholic Church had removed the Bible from the common people during that dark period of time called ‘the Dark Ages’. Truth was kept from them only to be replaced by religious practices and liturgy.
Yet, it would be in this land that some 263 years later the settlers would set up a form of government based on the truth of the Bible and the Law of God. In fact, its Ruler would be the Creator and Giver of life. America would become like a fountain of life to a world seeking to escape to freedom from the chains of religion that bound them in the nations of the East.
It is interesting to note the marvelous claims of Jesus. The apostle John wrote that He was the Word made flesh. Jesus said of Himself, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water (John 7:37-38).”
Little did Ponce de Leon realize that America would become a fountain of life for the world as the only nation that rested on living water. Again, one must understand the waters of Genesis 2 to be able to comprehend spiritually the significance of the waters of the world. Oh that Americans could gain understanding this Thanksgiving that they have been offered the fountain of life, but without gratitude for this gift, they will lose it! Satan will steal it from them as they harden their hearts to God while, at the same time, opening them up to the devil, the author of lies and destruction.
He is already in the process of destroying God’s ruler-ship in the land. Muslims are demanding that American Constitutional law be replaced by Sharia law in Oklahoma, and a few very wise governors are taking authority in hand to declare that this will not be so in their state. Muslims do not give thanks to the Lord God of peace and love. They honor another god called Allah who is the author of wars and killing. Islam is determined to put an end to America in the form that the early Founding Fathers left it to us as an inheritance of liberty under God.
Is it not strange that from the time of Alexander the Great to the time of Ponce de Leon and on to this age of Big Pharma that we are still looking for the fountain of life, which God has already placed in our hands to share with the entire world? It comes as living water from the pages of the Bible, which was written by those who heard the voice of God and wrote His Word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit of life. He has set the fountain of life directly in front of us simply for the drinking – those precious living waters for which men have been searching for centuries.
Are the American people going to give thanks for this incredible gift, not just for one day, but every day we are alive and blessed in this country of two nations, as was Israel before her? Or is she going to hand it over to a people who hate her and want to destroy her, all because we have allowed politicians to enforce political correctness instead of speaking the truth.
Jesus never taught anyone at any time that loving one’s enemies means bowing to their idols and their gods. To love one’s brother is done in the manner in which Jesus loved, which means that one is prepared to die to oneself so that his brother might live, by telling him the truth in a world hostile to the truth of God and to the Bible.
If Israel had kept foreign gods and the religions that honored these gods out of her nation in obedience to God, there would be no issue today over ownership of the West Bank or the Gaza Strip; the nation would be blossoming and teeming with abundance. The true Jew would never have been driven from the land, and the Muslims would not have been able to build a mosque on the temple site, where the Hebrew people, themselves, so violated their temple with religious idolatry.
Do you, in America, want to go the same way as Israel, when God has given to you the custodianship of the fountain of life, the same Scriptures of which the nation Israel was once the custodian, and to which has been added the gospels and the message of good news? Either you will draw living water from them and drink of it, or the waters will dry up and there will be nothing but the stench of Islam and death, where there once was life.
Repent and turn back to God during this Thanksgiving season, or be prepared to face your own up-coming American West Bank and Gaza Strip land disputes. They are on the way to a neighborhood near you, and Oklahoma has discovered just how close they have come.
If it is the fountain of life for which you are searching, then chances are it is sitting on your very own bookshelf, catching dust. Pick it up, open it up and you will be amazed at the river of life flowing from every page of this priceless book.
Yes, Virginia, there is a fountain of life, and Jesus died so it could be given to all of us just for the asking on our Christmas lists. Who would throw such an incredible gift away without first looking at the note from the Sender, which accompanies it?
And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. And whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely (Revelation 22-17).
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever (Psalm 107:1).
